Meet Dr. Roberto S. Carvalho
Dr. Carvalho graduated from Harvard School of Dental Medicine with a residency in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics in conjunction with post-doctoral training in Orthopedics at the Children’s Hospital in Boston.
In addition, Dr. Carvalho has a Master of Science degree in Craniofacial Growth and Development and a PhD degree in Oral Biology, both from the University of Manitoba in Canada and a Doctorate of Dental Medicine from Boston University.
Throughout his career, Dr. Carvalho has been involved in academia and has dedicated time to research and teaching. He has published in many peer-reviewed scientific journals and lectured in North America, Europe, and South America, receiving several awards.
In particular, Dr. Carvalho is the recipient of the Milo Hellman Award, one of the most prestigious awards given by the American Association of Orthodontists and Dentofacial Orthopedics, and the Coenraad F.A. Moorrees Award given by the Harvard Society for Advancement of Orthodontics.
Dr. Carvalho has been an Assistant Professor of Orthodontics at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and at the Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine. For many years while conducting biomedical research, Dr. Carvalho had an appointment as Assistant Research Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the School of Medicine, also at Boston University.
Dr. Carvalho and his wife, Elsa, have three young children, twins Felipe and Isabela, and Flavia. Dr. Carvalho has a solid character, is warm and caring and relates well to people of all ages. He is also fluent in Portuguese and has a commanding knowledge of French and Spanish.
Together with his family, he likes a variety of activities such as traveling, skiing, cycling, reading, but most of all Dr. Carvalho enjoys spending time with his wife and kids.
